This professional development session is designed to support Pre-K educators in fostering their students' development in the writing domain of emergent literacy, as outlined in the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines. Through a combination of expert-led instruction, hands-on activities, and interactive discussions, participants will deepen their understanding of the writing process and explore strategies for scaffolding children's early writing skills, including scribbling, letter formation, and storytelling.
Participants will also gain insight into how to develop a print-rich environment that promotes children's writing and language development. This workshop will provide opportunities for collaboration and reflection on how to tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of each child. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of how to support early writing skills in the Pre-K setting and be equipped with practical strategies to enhance their classroom instruction.
