Keynote Presentation: Education with a Purpose
Workforce Preparedness Conference Group B 10:00 Session
Share
The Texas economy is a diversified engine of job growth and opportunity. Since the Great Recession, Texas job growth has been driven by a resurgent, and now fallow, oil and gas sector, exports and rapid population growth. The demand for worker skills is being influenced as the economy evolves around new technologies, different business practices and an increasingly global perspective. Some industries are disproportionately affected, projected employment growth in various occupations is uneven, there is a clear trend of increasing demand for technical skills, and more jobs are being created for which new skill sets are in demand. This session looks at state and Central Texas regional employment trends and opens up the labor market realities that are influencing employer skill and hiring requirements.
