Connecting Reading and Writing: Engaging Texts that Lead to Authentic Writing, Grades 4-12
Sponsored by the Write for Texas Grant




English teachers must take advantage of the connection between reading and writing! Each time a student engages with a text for comprehension, it is also a chance to explore the wealth of writing opportunities. This interactive session will focus on reading comprehension strategies for a variety of genres and ways to incorporate those same texts into writing instruction. Participants will create a reading/writing notebook and engage in strategies that will get students not only reading beyond the words on the page, but also writing more specifically and effectively.
