ALISEN Symposium
K - 12

ESC Region 12’s TransformED initiative focuses on transforming instructional practice to meet the needs of the modern student. Instruction with students at the center can have many faces: Project Based Learning, Inquiry Learning, theme-based instruction, argument-driven instruction, blended-learning, performance task driven, etc. The Active Learning Institute Student Engagement Network (ALISEN) is Education Service Center Region 12’s next generation professional development (PD) model that can meet all the needs of individuals, campuses and districts as they move towards effective, innovative, student-centered instructional practices. ALISEN is a needs and evidence based professional development network to 1) provide PD based on teacher needs assessment on student engagement 2) engage teachers in action research for continuous instructional improvement to increase student engagement. Join this FREE session to participate in an overview, current research participant panel showcase, and Q&A. In addition, there will be afternoon breakouts focused on opportunities for PD through the three categories of ALISEN: Pedagogy, Research, and Technology.
