Research-Based Literacy Practices and Strategies: Phonics, Decoding, Word Study and Recognition

Following up on Texas’ Literacy Achievement and Reading to Learn Academies, this series will provide participants with a deeper look at research-based practices for providing effective literacy instruction in grades 3-5.  For the fall semester, each monthly after-school session will look at building teacher knowledge in the areas of phonics, decoding, and word study, and how understanding the structure of our English language supports reading and spelling.  The online component of this training will allow participants the opportunity to discuss and collaborate between monthly face-to-face sessions.
