Educational Neurology, K-12
Blended Learning Session

Poverty has a dramatic effect on brain development. The neurons in our brain develop based upon the interactions with our environments. Areas of the brain that are affected by chronic exposure to poverty include those responsible for working memory, impulse regulation, visuospatial, language and cognitive conflict (Noble, et al. 2005). Join us for a lesson on brain anatomy, how the brain develops as well as the effects of poverty and trauma on this development, and practice strategies that help mitigate poverty’s negative effects.
