Unit Design for Language Proficiency in the LOTE Classroom
Languages other than English




This session will focus on planning a LOTE unit through the following:

  • choosing themes
  • writing an essential question
  • using backward design
  • identifying learning targets
  • using the new ACTFL can-do statements
  • using proficiency methodology

In addition, participants will experience how to build activities for the three communication modes when planning classroom instruction. The session will also provide participants time to work on a unit plan of their own.

The presenter is a representative of Texas Foreign Language Association (TFLA) and requires participants to be TFLA members to attend the session at the reduced rate. See www.tfla.info for membership information.
