Balancing Literacy with the Instructional Focus Document of TEKS RS; Grades K-5; 6-12
Blended Session




What does a classroom look like that supports a balanced literacy framework? How do
you use the IFD to plan for all components of that framework? This session will focus on
integrating each component with TEKS RS curriculum. We will discuss balanced literacy
and planning from the IFD for shared, guided and independent reading and writing. We will also discuss how to select resources and mentor texts with the IFD.

We will be offering 4 Planning Cohorts around the end of each 6 weeks to meet, either face to face at the ESC or virtually through a Zoom meeting, from 3:30-5:30. These 2 hour planning meetings will be to provide support and collaboration for planning your upcoming unit.

Do not miss this opportunity to be part of this innovative Blended Learning PD at Region 12 combining online and face-to-face learning. This 6 hour session includes a brief pre-session activity, 4.5 hours of face-to-face professional development from 9:00am - 2:30pm accompanied by 1.5 hour(s) of outside learning experience. Participants may stay at the conclusion of the face-to-face portion of the session to begin work on the outside learning experience.
