Diabetic Care Provider Training of Unlicensed School Personnel--Refresher course

If you have or may have diabetic students, this course follows the House Bill 984 guidelines. This class will give school personnel the knowledge to be considered an Unlicensed Diabetes Care Assistant (UDCA). HB 984 states that each campus with a diabetic student is required to provide at least one UDCA if there is a full-time RN, or 3 UDCAs if there is not a full-time RN on campus. To attend this course you had to have taken the full course within a year.  Any nurses may attend but there are no CEUs available.  A complete booklet of information will be provided for each participant to take back to your school.

Coordinated School Health Co-op attends for FREE.

Important Session Information:

As per HB 984 guidelines, each campus needs to have one to three unlicensed diabetic care assistants for diabetic students. During this refresher course, which is a yearly requirement, you will get updates, learn about new equipment, and practice skills.

Everyone must complete a written and a skills test, which does require testing your own blood sugar through a finger stick.

RNs are not required to take this course but may do so for the most up-to-date information.
