Analyzing the new ELAR TEKS (K-8)




The seven strands of the essential knowledge and skills for English Language Arts and Reading adopted in 2017 are intended to be integrated for instructional purposes. Participants in this blended session will carefully analyze the seven strands of the new ELAR TEKS, targeting academic vocabulary, academic progressions, and the interconnected nature of strands and SEs. Session activities will focus on the reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking connections needed in lesson design.  - Please bring an electronic device. 

Important Session Information:


Do not miss this opportunity to be part of this innovative Blended Learning PD at Region 12 combining online and face-to-face learning. This 6 hour session includes a brief pre-session activity, 4.5 hours of face-to-face professional development from 9:00am - 2:30pm followed by a 1.5 hour outside learning experience.


Please note:
Since this blended learning session includes a brief pre-session activity, the registration deadline for the session ends one week prior to the face-to-face date.  
Pay careful attention to the start and end times for the face-to-face portion of this session. 
 
Please bring your own device if possible.
Participants may stay after the conclusion of the face-to-face portion of the session to begin work on the outside learning experience/assignment.
