Secondary (6-12) Counselor Orientation and Best Practices Institute

The Secondary (6-12) Counselor Orientation and Best Practices Institute is an opportunity for counselors who serve grades 6-12 to come together to learn of updates in legislative mandates relative to their populations, and learn of evidence-based strategies and techniques in handling the multiple facets of working with adolescents. Participants will see updates for SCHOLAR, the School Counselor Online Learning and Resources website, review tenets and best practices for HB 18 and HB 5 as well as cover ApplyTexas use, college and career readiness, mental health mandates and training options, college board information on SAT, homeless/unaccompanied youth (McKinney-Vento), assessment updates for STAAR, and much, much more.

Important Session Information:

This year's focus for the ESC Region 12 Secondary School Counselor Best Practice Institute is on College and Career Advising.
