Utilizing Professional Judgement During the Evaluation Process: Increasing Confidence and Competence in SLD Identification

Professional judgment is defined as the reasoned application of clear guidelines to the specific data and circumstances related to the unique individual. Diagnosticians, LSSPs, and others are tasked with ensuring that the FIE meets the unique needs of a student, follows policy and procedures, and reflects sound decision making. This session is designed to provide additional training to increase the evaluators ability and confidence in navigating the many areas of an evaluation which require professional judgement. Participants will create an action plan for utilizing information learned during this session and complete a follow-up survey on implementation.
