Analyzing the New 9-12 ELAR TEKS



The seven strands of the essential knowledge and skills for English Language Arts & Reading adopted in 2017 are intended to be integrated for instructional purposes. Participants in this session will carefully analyze the seven strands of the new 9-12 ELAR TEKS, targeting academic vocabulary, academic progressions, and the interconnected nature of strands and SEs. Session activities will focus on the reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking connections needed in lesson design.


Important Session Information:


Enhanced Curriculum Co-op members attend at no additional fee.

This session will be a virtual, self-paced training that will take place over a two-week period. You will receive an email inviting you to a Canvas course on July 14, 2020, with a recommended timeline to complete the coursework. On July 21, 2020, there will be a 1-hour Zoom check-in* in order to reflect and discuss the learning, as well as set the next steps for the rest of the learning. The session will close in ESCWorks on July 28, 2020, in order to begin the process of awarding credit. 

*Attendance at the Zoom check-in, as well as active engagement throughout the Canvas course, is required to be awarded the full six hours of CPE credit.
