Novel Study, grades 6-12

How can you craft a clear, manageable and responsive approach to help your students become better readers, writers and thinkers? Novels! Replace traditional novel study and worksheet packet with increased opportunities for wide reading with peers, innovative ways to respond in writing and sustained motivation. You will return to the classroom this upcoming school year equipped with a new approach to literacy discussions. This session will focus on identifying the skills your students need to learn, choosing whole-class text that will be relevant to your students, developing a scope and sequence for each novel, aligning with the new ELAR standards and investigating how to guide students to choice books and books clubs through modeling of pedagogical strategies and challenging our students.

Note: this training was also held in the summer of 2020. If you have already attended, but believe a second attendance would be beneficial, you are welcome to register.

Important Session Information:

Enhanced Curriculum Co-op members attend at no additional fee.

This session will be a virtual, self-paced training that will take place over a two-week period.
