Human Trafficking Update: Governor's Office and TEA
A Closer Look at Safety and Care

Human Trafficking laws coming out of the 86th legislative session shed light on an epidemic occurring in our state that impacts our children, our schools, and our communities. HB 1272 is one of several laws passed this last session to combat this form of modern-day slavery. TEA and the Office of the Governor are coming together to address this legislation and have conversations with our school leaders on best practices, reporting suspected human trafficking cases, and how to be in compliance with the new law(s).
