This session is FREE of charge courtesy of the LBJ Presidential Library. During this virtual session, attendees will learn about the LBJ Library resources available for schools and teachers, including information about field trips, bus scholarships, curriculum, primary sources, and professional development. Participants will engage and receive components for the following civil rights lesson that can be used both synchronously and asynchronously.
A Civil Rights Investigation: Mississippi Burning
Investigate the disappearance of three civil rights workers during the Freedom Summer of 1964 using telephone conversations, oral histories, and documents as evidence to solve the case.
All participants will receive access to a Region 12 Canvas account the week prior to the session. Zoom information will be located within this account. The Zoom meeting will take place at 9 am and is scheduled to last two hours. The meeting will be recorded and provided to all registered attendees.
