Schools-based services underwent rapid change this past spring with the arrival of covid-19. While delivery of mental health services via telehealth has been an emerging service in the private sector, it is new to most school systems and special educators are struggling with the many ethical dilemmas of providing assessment and special education services virtually, including issues of equitable services, confidentiality, and legal implications. Some regulations and guidelines have been provided or amended but to date there has been little guidance on the details of providing FAPE in a virtual environment. This webinar will provide an update on the most recent guidelines from the federal and state departments of education and review the research as well as best practices, including ethical implications, for service delivery via telehealth.
This session will fulfill 3 hours of the ethics requirement for LSSP license renewal.
