Taking Literacy Practices Virtual, Grades 6-12
Share
With more questions than answers, and more unknowns than certainties, it’s difficult to know where to begin with providing your students with consistent, stable, quality instruction that cultivates growth in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking. This session will address the principles of effective, research-based instruction, and begin to explore what it looks like to apply those principles wherever you may be teaching, and wherever your students may be learning. We will establish basic vocabulary, introduce various approaches and practices, and explore the implications for you & your students. You will have the opportunity to “build your own learning” by selecting three topics that are most urgent for you to address & take next steps based on your needs, and informed from the whole group learning.
Important Session Information:
This session will be a virtual training. You will receive an email inviting you to a Canvas course on July 21, 2020, with an overview of the session, and a recommended timeline to complete the coursework. On July 28, 2020, there will be a 3-hour Zoom meeting* from 9am to 12:00pm for whole-group learning. Following the 28th, you will have the opportunity to engage in self-paced learning based on the learning plan that you create. The session will close in ESCWorks on August 4, 2020, in order to begin the process of awarding credit.
*Attendance at the Zoom meeting, as well as active engagement throughout the Canvas course, is required to be awarded the six hours of CPE credit.
