G/T 6hr Update - Twice Exceptional Book Study
Fall 2020




Join ESC Region 12 as we embark on a six-week online book study of Sharon Draper's middle grade novel, Out of My Mind. This book is about a young girl with above average intelligence but cannot easily demonstrate this because she has severe cerebral palsy, confined to a wheelchair, and cannot speak.  The entire book is written from inside her head – what she remembers, how people talk to her, and what she thinks about. Additionally, as we read the book we will explore various aspects of twice-exceptional students as well as strategies to support their learning effectively. 

Important Session Information:


This six week, instructor led book study will take place via a Canvas course. Participants will be assigned specific chapters to be read, questions to complete via a discussion board with optional live Zoom meetings for discussion twice during the book study. Participants will be provided a paperback copy of the text, Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper to be picked up at the ESC the week prior to the book study beginning. Pick up times will be announced.

Gifted and Talented Co-op members attend at no additional fee.
