A Circle of Friends involves a group of people coming together to help formulate, promote
and support the life plan of a person with disability. The Circle acts as a community of
friendship and support around the focus person. The Circle also provides practical advice, helps solve problems, and generates creative ideas to contribute positively
to the person’s life.
MAPS is a planning process that begins with a story, the focus person's history, and then explores and identifies the focus person's dream life. The process then MAPS out a plan for achieving that dream life.
Participants will learn to confidently lead students and families in person-centered transition planning using the Circle of Friends concept and the MAPS planning tool.
