Pre-AP History: Fostering Disciplinary Reasoning Skills in the Pre-AP History & SS Classroom

Fostering disciplinary reasoning skills is a key focus of the Pre-AP social studies classroom. This workshop explores the four disciplinary reasoning skills that appear in Pre-AP and AP History course frameworks: causation, comparison, contextualization, and change and continuity over time. Participants design activities that use Pre-AP shared principles and allow students to find meaning in primary and secondary source sets the way that historians and geographers do.

Outcome:
Educators will explore and design instructional resources that utilize the four disciplinary reasoning skills of Pre-AP and AP classrooms.
