HB 496 requires any staff who may be expected to offer assistance in an emergency situation to complete the Stop the Bleed training and Stop the Bleed must be offered annually to students (7th to 12th grade). It allows for medically related school staff (i.e. a school nurse) to participate in a Train the Trainer course and then to train staff and students. This course serves as the Train the Trainer. It is offered at no charge and facilitated by the Region 12 Education Service Center. It is presented by Francisco Villa, Deputy Director of the Central Texas Regional Advisory Council and Heart of Texas Regional Advisory Council. Participants will learn how to administer the Stop the Bleed course.
