Mathematical Progression of Multiplication
Grades 2-5
Share
Multiplication is a concept in elementary mathematics where there is a shift in thinking from additive reasoning to a more complex idea of multiplicative reasoning. In this session we will explore the progression of multiplication to better understand how to teach and intervene when students struggle. We will look at the research and ideas of Van de Walle and Graham Fletcher to prepare our teaching strategies to make the concept “stick” with our students.
Important Session Information:
This blended session will begin with an accompanying Canvas course to build background, include a face to face component, and a culminating activity.
