SPED Funding: Master Class
Module 3: Analyze

An LEA's budget is an expression of its priorities through which funding allocations provide for educational opportunities at times equitable, and unfortunately, at times not.  As schools adapt to Results Driven Accountability (RDA) and the Effectiveness Phase of Education, resource allocation must be carefully calculated to capitalize on all possibilities. Utilizing a strategic approach for sped resource allocation that encompasses the synthesis and analysis of financial and programmatic data while maximizing the use of all available revenue sources enables optimal utilization of sped funding in the development of a special education budget reasonably calculated to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ever-improving programs and services.

SPED Funding: Master Class is a multi-session professional learning series that blends virtual sessions with extended learning opportunities for Special Education Directors. The Master Class Series is divided into five virtual sessions scheduled monthly throughout the semester. Each session is sequenced and aligned in application and theory to corresponding transactional phases that combine with a comprehensive budgeting process. While Master Class is not intended to provide participants with answers to every possible sped funding or budgeting question, it will illuminate a process by which to leverage data, resources, and relationships for increased operational efficiencies in the search for system-wide solutions.

Analyze: Global Insights Inform Impactful Actions

The ability to transition from big picture insights to system-wide analysis requires a shift in processing and perspective. In this session, we will explore Results Driven Budgeting utilizing data mining and analysis in the search for solutions Boot Camp Style. Equally important as attaining an eagle eye and global perspective is the deep dive one must take into the weedy details when traveling trend lines in search of imperceptible patterns and illusive anomalies representing hidden opportunities.

Do not miss the opportunity to be part of this innovative Blended Professional Learning Opportunity at Region 12. Participants will receive up to 6 hours of credit for this session. A portion of the session will be held via Zoom, and a portion will occur as an outside learning experience.
