Planning, Interpreting, & Writing the FIE
Writing effective impact statements and needs statements in the FIE

This 3-part series will take a deeper dive into “basic psychological processes” involved in Specific Learning (SLD) identification. With the new language in the Legal Framework and Single Pathway for Dyslexia identification, it is more important now to take a deeper dive into cognitive processes going beyond just standard score interpretation and broad abilities to understand the relationship to learning and how processing strengths and weaknesses “is relevant to the identification of SLD.”

Important Session Information:

Session 3 of 3 Part Series

Participants will be able to communicate student learning (or lack of) by using their new knowledge and skills to write effective impact statements and needs statements in the FIE. This can be accomplished by using “integrated data analysis” in which participants will be shown the relationship between test data, informal data, and its connection to learning for individual students. This training will use case studies. Participants are encouraged to bring their own cases as well to practice.
