School Safety Summit: Creating a Safe School Culture (Concurrent)
A conference focusing on keeping schools safe through behavioral/mental health and inclusive support strategies.
The number 1 way to prevent a mass casualty event is a student having a trusted adult and connection. Understanding people and including them creates that connection. We will be looking at the mental health needs of diverse populations of students. The pandemic has placed advanced pressures on our schools, and our diverse populations are left with even greater needs. We'll take a deep dive into addressing their emotional health needs and how that supports the overall safe functioning of schools. Of particular concern are students who feel excluded and unwelcome in our school setting. Spend a day exploring differences, ways to include people, and how to make your schools safer.
