Passion, vision, relatability—can we ever quantify the facets of successful leadership? Is there sufficient “there-there” behind these feel-good words to transform a school into a culture of learning and bold hope? Yes, and yes! We will explore the five components that all effective leaders possess—trustworthiness, competence, dynamism, immediacy, and forward-thinking—that allow programs and initiatives to be implemented. In addition, we’ll explore the ways in which we can lead the clarity and engagement work such that all students know what they are learning, why they are learning it, and what it means to learn. In doing so, we can confront the crisis of engagement and lead our schools to greater success.
