I Teach Rocket Science! Science of Teaching Reading

Reading is a complex activity made up of two interdependent processes. A skilled reader combines word recognition and language comprehension to make meaning of text. This online course is designed to immerse participants in the theory and practice of teaching early reading skills that are the basis of a proficient reader.  In this week long course, participants will navigate between theory and practice, with application supports, that are framed around the Science of Teaching Reading.

Important Session Information:

This session will be a virtual, self-paced training that will take place over a two-week period. You will receive an email inviting you to a Canvas course with a recommended timeline to complete the coursework. On October 19, 2022 there will be a 1-hour Zoom check-in* in order to discuss the learning, and set the next steps. 

*Attendance at the Zoom check-in, as well as active engagement throughout the Canvas course, is required to be awarded the full six hours of CPE credit. 

Enhanced Curriculum Co-op members may attend at no additional fee.
