Visual inspection for AWS Structural and ASME Pressure Vessel Welder Qualification Testing




This session will discuss weld defects, code criteria and address the use of weld inspection gauges to assess weld quality. We will also take an in depth look at AWS Structural Code and ASME Pressure Vessel Code fillet and groove welder qualification testing and the equipment needed.

 The Agenda is as follows:

A quick review of the AWS D1.1 Tack Welder and AWS D9.1 Fillet Welder tests.
A discussion of the AWS Structural Code and ASME Pressure Vessel Code, fillet weld break test and acid macro-etch test for welder certification. (list the equipment needed)
An overview of AWS and ASME V-Groove welder testing, open root and with backing, and the equipment needed. (Phase 3 of the training will demo these welds once the teachers have the equipment.)
An in-depth look at weld defects and how to recognize and assess them using inspection tools.
How to fill out the paperwork required to certify and track students qualifications on the website.
