The summit is a two hour introduction that focuses on the following: The Science of Reading, Structured Literacy, Instructional Design, and quick, effective reading skills that can be implemented in the classroom tomorrow. The target audience is teachers and specialists, although it is beneficial for administrators to attend as well.

Important Session Information:


The TWO HOUR session will be an interactive opportunity for LEA's to learn about Reading Horizons in conjunction with the Commissioner's list. The session is intended for those who are involved in overseeing or teaching foundational literacy (K-3).

By the end of the session, attendees will have experienced an entire Reading Horizons lesson and have a strong understanding of their simple, yet comprehensive approach to foundational literacy. They will also hear about the gains Crystal Lewis, a reading specialist at J.H. Hines Elementary (Waco ISD) has seen using the program on her campus.

Jenny Kier is the director of education specialists at Reading Horizons and is passionate about empowering teachers, spreading the gift of literacy through the science of reading, and helping educators reach their potential. Jenny is an avid reader of mysteries and true crime and loves to write creative nonfiction. She lives with her husband, Jeremy, son, Hunter, and two fur babies, Cooper and Cabo, on the Texas Gulf Coast.
