G/T 6hr Update - Genius Hour Book Study 2nd Edition
Spring 2024




Join ESC Region 12 as we embark on a six-week online book study of Andi McNair’s book, Genius Hour: Passion Projects that Ignite Innovation and Student Inquiry, 2nd Edition.  This 2nd Edition provides educators with newly revised handouts, up-to-date online resources, and fresh strategies for implementing Genius Hour, or passion projects, in your classroom. Presented through an easy-to-follow six-step strategy, teachers will utilize the six P's-passion, pitch, plan, project, product, and presentation-as a map for students to follow as they create, design, and carry out projects. Students will experience personalized learning through these self-driven projects, application of standards and real-world skills, and opportunities to learn through failure and reflection.

Important Session Information:


Gifted and Talented Members attend at for the book fee ($25). This six week, instructor led book study will take place via a Canvas course. Participants will be assigned specific chapters to be read, questions to complete via a discussion board with optional live Zoom meetings for discussion twice during the book study. Participants will need to pay a materials fee ($25) to receive a paperback copy of the text, Genius Hour by Andi McNair, to be picked up at the ESC the week prior to the book study beginning. Pick up times will be announced. This study supports and models practices and policies that demonstrate high expectations and shared ownership for student success, with a drive towards college and career readiness and postsecondary success. Instructional materials and processes discussed support students with varied learning needs.
