Making Sense of Writing Conferences
6-EOC
Share
The writing conference often gets a bad rap. The benefits– individualized instruction, specific skills development, growth of good writing habits, goal-setting for future writing etc.– are undisputed, but without support, writing conferences can be viewed as intimidating, unwieldy, and too complex. This session aims to dispel these concerns by exploring, modeling, and designing realistic systems to restore the reputation of conferring. Afterall, if you aren’t conferring with students, you aren’t teaching writing; you're just assigning it. Join us to reclaim writing conferences in your classroom.
