A Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines Training on the 2022 Revised Social and Emotional Development Domain
Nurturing Social and Emotional Development in Pre-K




In this session, participants will deepen their understanding of social and emotional development and learn how to promote healthy social-emotional growth in their young learners. This session aims to assist teachers to better understand effective instructional practices and learning experiences that strengthen cognitive skills, as well as social and emotional competencies required for school readiness and success in life. We will dive into child outcomes for the following skills: self-concept, self-regulation, relationships with others, and social awareness. 

The session will provide opportunities for collaboration, reflection, and goal-setting to apply new learning to individual classroom contexts. By the end of the session, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of how to promote social and emotional development in the Pre-K setting, and feel empowered to implement these practices in their classrooms. They will be able to create a learning environment that fosters the growth of resilient.

Important Session Information:


The 2022 Revised Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines will be covered through 8 separate professional development sessions with the first session starting in the summer and the remaining sessions dispersed throughout the school year. The sessions are separated by the following domains: Exploring the Newly Revised 2022 Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines (3 hours), Social and Emotional Development (3 hours), Language and Communication Development (3 hours), Emergent Literacy Reading (6 hours), Emergent Literacy Writing (3 hours), Mathematics (3 hours), Science (3 hours), and Social Studies (3 hours). Participation in all 8 sessions will result in 27 hours of documented professional development. Sessions can be taken individually and accumulate to 3 professional development hours each (Emergent Literacy Reading Domain is 6 hours).
