The Pyramid Model




The Pyramid Model provides the framework related to promoting young children's social and emotional development. The foundation of this model is grounded in the context of positive, supportive relationships between teachers and children. A major focus of this training content is on strategies that early childhood educators can use to promote children's development while focusing on prevention of challenging behaviors. 

Important Session Information:


This training is designed for early childhood audiences including child care, public schools, and Head Start. Topics included in this training include:

  • Building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
  • Designing environments, schedules, and routines
  • Establishing rules
  • Implementing activities that promote child engagement
  • Modifying and adapting materials and activities to meet the individual needs of all children, including those with disabilities
  • Providing encouragement and positive feedback to children
  • Identifying teachable moments
  • Facilitating the development of friendships skills
  • Teaching problem solving
  • Teaching children to recognize and express emotions
  • Teaching anger management
