Talking about Texts: Encouraging Civil Discourse through Source Analysis




In this professional development session, educators will delve into practical strategies aimed at encouraging students to provide textual evidence within the framework of civil discourse.

Through interactive discussions and hands-on exercises, participants will: 

  • Understand the importance of textual evidence for comprehension and critical analysis of primary and secondary sources
  • Explore techniques for locating and selecting relevant evidence from texts
  • Learn scaffolding methods to support students in incorporating evidence effectively 

Participants will gain insights and resources to enhance their instructional practices as a way to empower students as critical thinkers and articulate communicators.
