A "twice-exceptional learner" is a student who performs at - or shows the potential for performing at - a remarkably high level of accomplishment. He or she might exhibit high
performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area; possess an unusual capacity for leadership; or excel in a specific academic field. However, with these gifts and talents, the student also demonstrates evidence of one or more disabilities as defined by federal and state eligibility criteria. Twice-exceptional students are often misdiagnosed or misidentified and critically underserved.
