Campus Leadership Guest Speaker: Doug Fisher

This session will focus on strengthening campus leaders’ capacity to drive consistent, high-quality instruction through short-cycle coaching, credibility building, and effective monitoring systems. Participants will unpack the practical difference between teachers assessing learning in the moment and leaders monitoring learning across classrooms and grade levels. Through concrete models and practice-based strategies, leaders will explore how to track student progress, reinforce instructional expectations, and create the conditions for reliable implementation across teams.

Building on shared understanding from the TNTP Opportunity Makers study, the session will connect research on consistency, grade-level access, and belonging to leaders’ daily coaching and observation practices. Participants will analyze what gets in the way of instructional consistency, examine state-aligned leadership expectations, and develop tools to support short-cycle coaching that increases teacher skill and student learning. By the end of the session, leaders will leave with actionable systems and aligned practices that strengthen their credibility, sharpen their coaching moves, and promote equitable learning experiences for all students.
