The cornerstone of a strong literacy environment is a teacher’s ability to create instruction that encourages conversation. When students are talking, their thinking becomes visible. This session will focus on developing opportunities for students to explore mentor texts across all genres and engage in dialogue that prepares them for the critical thinking required by the STAAR assessment.  

This session has reading instruction as the primary focus, but numerous connections to writing instruction will be explored.
