Literacy Instruction that STAARts Conversations: Genre Connections for Grades 3-5
Look Who’s Talking!

The reading classroom teaches students to comprehend a variety of genres while making connections and synthesizing information from multiple texts. When students start to unpack the complexities of a text and engage in dialogue to highlight their thinking, their comprehension and ability to draw complex inferences and conclusions is improved. Participants will discover resources for pairing genres and strategies for promoting conversation among students.

This session has reading instruction as the primary focus, but numerous connections to writing instruction will be explored.
