Literacy and Little Learners: Leaping into Literary Text
Grades K-2

The cornerstone of a strong literacy environment is a teacher’s ability to create instruction that encourages conversation. When students are talking, their thinking becomes visible. This session will focus on developing opportunities for primary students to explore a variety of literary works and engage in dialogue that prepares them for the critical thinking required by the STAAR assessment. Instructional strategies will be shared throughout the session that address listening, speaking, reading and writing through the study of literary text.
