Identification and Referral (Training Educators in Dual Diagnosis) In this session, educators will gain insights into dual diagnosis and mental health, including prevalence rates, vulnerabilities, and risk factors. Our objectives include defining dual diagnosis, distinguishing between intellectual/developmental disability and mental illness, understanding how vulnerabilities and trauma increase the risk of mental illness, identifying risk factors prevalent in the IDD population, and recognizing the characteristics of individuals with dual diagnosis. Equip yourself with foundational knowledge to better support students with dual diagnosis and foster a more inclusive learning environment.
